Flax Seed Oil And Eczema
Flax seed oil and eczema is focused on by several different research groups world-wide. The aim is to better understand how flax seed oil can be used to treat and prevent eczema, and hopefully also learn more about how flax seed oil affects inflammations in the entire body. Eczema is a name used for several different types of inflammations of the upper layers of skin. Flax seed oil and eczema treatment is today carried out both internally and externally. Flax seed oil can be ingested in an effort to make the body less prone to inflammations or applied directly on the effected skin in order to sooth it, keep it soft and prevent cracking. In many situations, a combination of both methods seems to have the best effect.
Studies have shown that a diet containing a suitable ratio between omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids makes the human body less prone to inflammations. The preferred ratio seems to be four times more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3 fatty acids. The typical United States diet of today does however contain 10 to 25 times more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3 fatty acids. This is why researchers are so positive about linking flax seed oil and eczema prevention together. Hopefully, they will even come up with a powerful cure for eczema.
You can increase the amount of omega-3 fatty acids in your diet by eating flax seed, flax seed oil, coldwater fish, or fish oil made from coldwater fish. Seal oil and seal meat can also contain high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids.
